Paying Attention

Herein be random ruminations on politics, history, ideas, spirituality, religion, education, media, life, relationships, culture... and Boston sports when I really want to vent.

"If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention." (ubiquitous)

"Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never has and never will." (Frederick Douglass)

"I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do, because I notice it always coincides with their own desires." (Susan B. Anthony)

"Clearly the trick in life is to die young as late as possible." (William Sloane Coffin)

TOMMY

Back then, at Junipero Serra High School in California, he was known as Tommy.  As in Tommy Brady.  He wasn’t even the starting quarterback on a freshman team that lost every game.  As a sophomore he rode the bench, and his overall high school career was not much to brag about.  His high school coach said Brady is not even on the top ten list of best athletes he coached… but he was the “best football player.”

All that aside, I’m thinking not too many high school girls — then or now — would turn down Tommy Brady’s invitation to be his prom date.
